The number of papers published Open Access (OA) has increased rapidly in recent years, and Springer Nature, which offers OA publishing options in about 90% of its journals, has developed Transformative Agreements that would combine part of the subscription cost with the OA publishing cost for institutions. Transformative Agreements are considered to be an effective model for increasing the number of papers by Gold OA, which permanently guarantees rapid access, sharing and use of research results while reducing the reliance on the conventional library budget. To enhance the international dissemination of research results, active consideration is expected to introduce Transformative Agreements in Japan.
